Since we have a race coming up very soon, and my friends sometime ask me about judicial candidates, I'm going to post about the Supreme Court race. The dark money's flowing into the race for Chief Justice. The Arkansas Times covered a new website attacking current Justice and candidate Courtney Goodson for her ties to trial lawyers. The website footnotes talk about the "millions" made by a set of trial lawyers in an opinion Goodson wrote. We wrote about that opinion when it came out -- the entire case was a triumph of Arkansas businesses over a German multinational corporation that recklessly polluted the U.S. food supply. The case wasn't about lawyers -- it was about Arkansas businesses. Unfortunately, the dark money group supporting Goodson's opponent, Dan Kemp, is funded by shadows who likely include the same multinational corporation upset about being called to account for harming Arkansans. So, if you want to follow the website's advice and "Call Courtney Goodson at 501-682-6870 & Tell Her to Fight for Arkansans", you could start by thanking her for sticking up for Arkansans over a German multinational. I don't trust Kemp because he's cozied up to this big business money that simply doesn't represent Arkansas values.
